Lisbeth C. Robinson, JD/Ph.D., is a patent attorney focusing her practice on patent preparation and prosecution in the chemical and life sciences fields. She assists her clients with all aspects of domestic and international patent portfolio development, including conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses. As a former patent examiner, Lisbeth possesses a unique blend of legal and technical expertise to add value and maximize the return on investment for clients. She seeks to understand her clients’ goals to deliver strategically tailored service.
Lisbeth has worked with universities, medical device companies, and emerging and established companies in biotechnology. She has experience in patent drafting, prosecution and counseling in material science, such as polymer synthesis, organometallics for energy storage, functional solid-state materials targeting gas storage-separation, catalysis, and chemical sensing, as well as medical biotechnology, agricultural biotechnology, diagnostic, pharmaceutical, and medical treatment. Her examination docket included applications relating to drug delivery systems, agricultural products, cosmetic and personal care products, household care products, and impregnated/functionalized textiles.
Lisbeth received a bachelor’s degree in Biochemical Sciences from the University of Vermont. She was the first JD/PhD graduate of the Joint Degree Program in Law, Health and the Life Sciences of the University of Minnesota, earning both a PhD in Pharmacology and JD in 2008. Lisbeth’s written and oral advocacy skills and academic contributions have been recognized at the undergraduate and graduate school levels having been named to the 2001-02 Academic All-American Debate Team, winning the 2004 Best Brief Tournament of the Maynard Pirsig Moot Court, and co-authoring publications in Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, Current Biology, and Biophysical Journal (with associated commentary in Biophotonics International Jan 2005). Lisbeth is licensed to practice law in Minnesota and registered as a Patent Attorney with the USPTO.
