About Mike

Prior to joining DBC in 2016, Mike was a senior partner at Merchant and Gould P.C. He went on to become a founding partner at IPLM Group, P.A.

Mike's practice over the years has focused on U.S. and international patent and trademark preparation and prosecution. This has included two trips to Australia and New Zealand to visit Australian patent firms and clients. He has also provided guidance for individual inventors, small start-up companies and Fortune 500 clients. This guidance has included product clearance reviews, preparation of non-infringement and invalidity opinions, licensing and related intellectual property matters.

Mike's interest in law began while he worked at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, New York as an engineer. In the early 1970s he watched TV law shows, "Owen Marshall: Counselor at Law" and "The Storefront Lawyers". These shows sparked his interest, he was accepted into Kodak's Patent Lawyer program, and his career path in patent law was complete.

Mike enjoys most any sport with a racquet, as well as golf. The majority of the winter months are now spent in Palm Desert, California with his wife, Jolene. An important part of his life is spending time with his family, especially two young granddaughters.
